I’m Deb Murdoch, a leading mortgage broker at TMG The Mortgage Group.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

How I got into this business is a really interesting story. Funny enough, it was recommended to me by a realtor that just happened to be selling my home. After getting to know me during various interactions, the realtor recommended that I try my hand at mortgage brokering. I gave it a thought for a while, mulling over the pros and cons, then took a leap and never looked back.

Before becoming a mortgage broker, I was looking for a path that would allow me to develop my own business, and the success of it would be dependent on my skill set, passions, and work ethic. I also love helping people, being involved in ongoing education, and I enjoy working with numbers. When I launched my career as a mortgage broker, I was able to do all of the things I really enjoyed, and everything just fell into place, which made me very happy.

Today, I’ve completed over fourteen years as a mortgage broker. Before that, I spent twenty years in the marketing industry, learning how to interact with people and match needs to different products and services.

Compared to when I first started in the mortgage business, a lot of the products and policies have changed significantly. And that is what makes this industry so great! It’s constantly changing and adapting to the needs of the market. Another change that I’ve experienced is the growing need to stay engaged with the industry, lenders, and support people. All of this makes mortgages a very dynamic and intriguing business.

I also really enjoy working with different people and providing them the best possible solutions, whether that be the best rate or just helping them through a credit situation. It is the most rewarding feeling in the world knowing that I provide valuable services to my clients while keeping their best interests at heart.

I give good, solid advice to every one of my clients. I always say when I am working with someone, their mortgage becomes my mortgage, or their credit issues become my credit issues, and I only give advice that I would give myself based on my years of experience. By doing this, I build my client’s trust and confidence in my services. That way, they feel comfortable and are willing to listen to my advice for the long haul.

When communicating with clients, I do so with respect, kindness, honesty, integrity, and commitment. As much as I want to build a friendly relationship with them, I also want to remain accountable and professional.

My most satisfying moment as a mortgage broker was helping a family (with three young children) stay in their home despite losing their source of income. They were defaulting on their mortgage due to the financial strain, but I was able to help them renegotiate the terms of their mortgage and retain their home.

Helping clients purchase and hold onto their dream homes is my passion. This, coupled with my professional work ethic, has helped me succeed significantly.

When I’m not helping my clients find the perfect mortgage, I love to indulge in football. I am a huge NFL football fan. Besides this, I also travel, read (just about anything), and provide support to my mother as she ages.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
